The fall newsletter is a great opportunity to reflect on the year so far. And what a fantastic year it has been! These are exciting times for the Society, and I am grateful to be part of the transformation that is taking place. I am especially happy to report the strong progress on our strategic planning priorities as announced at BevTech 2019 in Charlotte. This work has been expertly led by Michon Mitchell.
There has been much focus on redefining the operating model of the Society and Board of Directors structures. Strong contributions were made by every member of your Board of Directors on this change. I am confident that the new board structures being put in place will better enable ISBT to secure its core activities and provide the fuel needed to deliver our strategic goals.
Our international dimension is in a healthy place! This year’s regional meetings – BevTech Canada led by Anthony Amendola, BevTech Europe led by Maria Piedad Lopez, and BevTech Latin America led by Gabriela Mejia – have all taken place and are going from strength to strength. The future is even brighter with our inaugural BevTech India led by DV Darshane scheduled to take place in Mumbai 13-14 February 2020. In addition, BevTech Asia Pacific will be led by Chris Bryant and is scheduled for 2021.
I am also excited about the work that our Membership Committee, led by Cloeann Durham, is undertaking. This will be a multiyear effort, but we are already seeing progress with strong leadership shown by our Craft Beverages Subcommittee under the guidance of Johannes Angres and our Bottler Subcommittee guided by Jim Post. The aim is to open our doors more broadly and showcase to these groups all the benefits that ISBT has to offer.
Planning for BevTech 2020 in San Diego is now well underway! Sal Calandra is building a special program that is not to be missed! The west coast is leading a growing craft beverage industry bringing new opportunities for knowledge sharing. We will once again hold the Technology Expo on Monday night. A big turn-out is expected, so please be sure to book your booth early as this will sell out quickly. We have plenty of great networking opportunities in mind for you. BevTech 2020 in San Diego looks certain to be a blockbuster!
